Red-breasted Goose

Branta ruficollis

Animals of All Regions Back
Considered one of the rarest goose species in the world, it is important for this species to nest near peregrine falcons and snowy owls in an attempt at protection from predators, particularly foxes. The clutch size is anywhere from 3 to 7 eggs. Although the male does not assist in incubating the eggs, he does remain nearby throughout the entire incubation period.
